The manual-winding tourbillon movement of the RM 17-02 features hours, minutes, power-reserve, and function indicators. Crafted with precision, the baseplate and bridges are made of grade 5 titanium—a biocompatible, corrosion-resistant alloy known for rigidity. Comprising 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium, this alloy is favored in aerospace and automobile industries for enhanced mechanical properties.
The skeletonized baseplate and bridges undergo rigorous validation tests to optimize resistance. A function indicator, akin to a car's gearbox, denotes winding, neutral, and hand-setting positions, displayed by a hand at 4 o'clock.
A power-reserve indicator at 2 o'clock reveals the remaining mainspring energy. The barrel design reduces internal mainspring adhesion, enhancing performance with an ideal power reserve ratio.
Characterized by compact dimensions—31.20 x 29.45 mm—the movement incorporates a 12.30 mm tourbillon and a 10.00 mm balance wheel. With 23 jewels set in white gold chatons, the Glucydur® balance, elinvar spring, and KIF Elastor KE 160 B28 shock protection contribute to reliable performance at 21,600 vph (3 Hz). The nickel-free Chronifer® barrel shaft ensures antimagnetic properties and suitability for tempering. The RM 17-02 stands as a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and technical excellence in watchmaking.
